Wise Penny
is an ongoing project and fundraiser. Shoppers support the community
and update their wardrobe through purchases of new and used clothing
and other merchandise. The Wise Penny also serves the community
through donations of merchandise to other community organizations
in need. It provides a location for youth and adults to do community
service.

The
Wise Penny provided quality clothing at affordable prices to members
of the Billings' community from all economic levels. Net proceeds
help fund the Junior League's community projects. Unsold merchandise
totaling $43,500 (1,740 bags at $25 per bag) was donated to other
501c(3) organizations, assisting them in fulfilling their missions.
Youth offenders were again provided with supervision and the opportunity
to fulfill their community service obligations as prescribed by
the Youth Court Conference Committee. The Wise Penny also provided
supervision and the opportunity to fulfill their community service
obligations for clients from the drug court program and Alternatives.
In 2006-2007, we had clients complete 525 hours of community service
in our shop.
The Wise Penny also affords schools to bring their students to volunteer
and learn a sense of civic responsibility. Skyview High School brought
their students this year to volunteer.
The Wise Penny takes part in the United Way's Day of Caring each
year. This year we had volunteers from First Interstate Bank. Growth
Thru Art displays their art work during the Art Walk at the Wise
Penny. We pay for them to be a part of this program ($200.00 per
year).
